Studiosity is a 24/7 online study service available to all Toronto Film School students, including support for writing, citation, and more.
Studiosity focuses on formative, real-time feedback rather than generating or correcting work. This helps you develop your academic writing and critical thinking skills. As part of Studiosity there are three services Writing Feedback+, Study Assist and Connect Live.
The Writing Feedback+ service allows you to upload a piece of their writing and then receive AI-generated feedback on critical thinking, language use, structure, spelling and grammar, and use of sources. Detailed feedback is shown in a sidebar, with a unique colour corresponding to each of the feedback categories. You will need to review and interpret the Studiosity feedback, making your own revisions, thus actively engaging in the writing process. There are no limits to the number of times you can submit to Writing Feedback+.
Feedback will be given on the following:
Your critical thinking feedback will look at how you have developed and expressed your argument and we will provide suggestions on how you can further demonstrate a deeper understanding of your subject matter.
Your structure feedback refers to how you have organized your text and paragraphs to make your key message easy to read and understand for your reader.
Your choice of language feedback covers how well you have worded your writing for your audience. You will receive feedback on whether your language choice is easy to understand and appropriate for your reader.
Your spelling and grammar feedback will focus on whether your words are grammatically accurate and spelled correctly, which will have a large impact on how professional your writing appears. This feedback is limited as it is not proofreading your document.
This feedback will cover whether you have included citations and references where necessary and how well you have integrated source material into your argument. It will not provide feedback on the accuracy of citations or formatting.
Studiosity cannot access your assignment instructions, course content, or rubrics, so the feedback is not tailored to the specific requirements or context of your course.
Studiosity provides limited feedback on spelling and grammar. It does not offer full proofreading or editing services. Please review your work carefully before submission.
Studiosity’s Writing Feedback+ does not assist with finding or evaluating research sources. For help with research strategies, databases, or citations, please contact the library.
Studiosity does not check or comment on the factual accuracy of your content. Ensuring your information is correct is your responsibility.
Checks for plagiarism: Studiosity does not provide plagiarism detection or similarity checks.
Study Assist is a new AI-powered assistant, here to help you get started on your assignments, and learn study skills. You can ask it a question from your Studiosity account anytime, 24/7. There are no limits to the number of times you can interact with this feature.
Studiosity’s Connect Live allows you to connect with a subject expert for live, one-to-one support 24/7! To use this feature, you submit your question, and Studiosity will match you with a specialist in real time.
Connect Live can be used for core skill English questions, including punctuation, spelling and grammar, and sentence structure, and questions about essay and report writing. This is a great tool to use for follow up questions about Writing Feedback you may have received.
You can also use Connect Live for Math questions, and Study Coach questions, which help with skills like work planning, revision timetables, study hints, and note taking.
It’s important to know that Studiosity’s Fair Use policy limits these interactions to 20 minutes.
You have an allocation of 6 Connect Live interactions during a four month period (January-April, May-August, September-December). Your allocation renews every four months.
