Donna Gilpin has had a long career in the fashion industry including everything from retail to haute couture (wedding dresses), mass production and then to corporate.
Her corporate experience allowed her to design for various house labels in Men’s and children’s commodities. Beginning as a Technical Designer then moving to Product Manager. This experience as a Product Manager allowed her to travel all over the U.S and Europe for samples/ market shopping seeing firsthand what was really going on in the world of fashion. She also travelled to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and China to negotiate prices with the suppliers.
In 1990 she began her career in teaching various course’s part time in fashion at Seneca College then in 2011 joined the Toronto Film School fulltime as Coordinator of the Fashion Programs and began to teach there. She was awarded an Excellence in Teaching Award at Seneca College in 2006 and received a nomination for Excellence in Teaching in 2015.
Donna’s many years of experiences allow her to bring to the table her extensive knowledge in Private Branding, Product Development Process, Manufacturing, extensive Fit Analysis and Patternmaking.
